Sadaqat Ul-Fitr is to be given before their Prayer
585. Narrated lbn "umar (a.m): The prophet (Sallallahu Alalihi Wasllam) ordered the people to pay Zakat-ut-Firt before going to the "id prayer
586. Narrated Aby Said Al-khudri (r.a) : In the lifetime of Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu Alalihi Wasllam), we used to given one Sa'of good (edible things) as Sadaqat-ut-Fitr (to the poor).
Our food used to be either of barley, raisins (dried grapes) cotage Cheese or dates.
Sadaqat - ul Fitr(is compulsory) on a slave as well as on free Muslim. And Az-zuhri says that it is also compulsory on the slaves for sale: both the prescribed Zakat on wealth as well as Sadaqat-ul-Fitr are to be paid.
587. Narrated Nafi (r.a) Said "The Prophet (Sallallahu Alalihi Wasllam) made incumbent on every male or female, free man or slave, the payment of one sa'of dates or barley as Sadaqatul-Fitr (or said Sadaqa Ramadan)." The people then substituted half Sa' of wheat for that lbn'Umar used to give dates (as Sadaqutul-Fitr).
Once there was scarcity of dates in Medina and lbn "Umar gave barley. 'And lbn 'Umar used to give Sadaqat-ut-Fitr for every young and old person. He even used to give on behalf of my children.
lbn 'Umar (r.a) : used to give Sadaqat-ul-Fitr to those who had been officially to give Sadaqat-ul-Fitr is obligatory, on the young and the old.
588. Narrated lbn's Umar(r.a) : Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu Alalihi Waslllam) has made sadaqat-ul-Fitr obligatory, (and it was), either one Sa' of barlery or one Sa' of dates (and its payment was obligatory) on young and old people. And one free man as well as on slaves.
